There are rebate programs for new installation of high efficient pool pumps ( 2-speed and variable speed ) from the City of Riverside and Southern California Edison.
Information on the new Variable Speed Pumps and there advantages:
Energy savings 30% - 90% will save hundreds of dollars per year.
The variable speed pumps are always running at peak effficiency , this extends the life of the pumps.
The new variable speed pumps are quieter than the current / older model pumps that have been on the market. Emitting just 7-10 decibels.
Here are some estimates when comparing the new variable speed pump with the old standard pump running between 3.6 - 12 hours a day at various utility rates ( in dollars per kilowatt hours [ kwh ] in a 20,000 gallon pool).
At $0.15/kwh estimated savings range would be $324 - $ 1,356 per year.
